News from the Deputy Principal
Why Is Attendance at School Important?
Regular attendance at school is important for students at our school to reach their full potential.
We want to do all we can to be sure your child achieves their potential and enjoys being in school. One way we can help make this happen is to be sure your child attends school each day unless they are sick, have COVID symptoms or are absent for a justified reason.
Protecting the wellbeing of our students through the reporting and monitoring of student absences is the responsibility of both parents/carers and schools. Notifying the school either before or on the day that your child is away helps us keep accurate student attendance records to support you and your child.
We know that school is the best place to learn and regular attendance means students can stay on top of their schoolwork and get the most out of their learning. If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much but absences add up and can impact your child’s learning more than you think. When your child misses one day a week over a year, that’s 40 days of school, 8 weeks of lessons and 2.5 years over their school life lost.
Mobileyes has partnered with us to bring its fully equipped Mobile Optometry Clinic and AHPRA registered optometrists to our school to conduct eye check-ups starting July 24th.
The comprehensive eye check-up program is bulk billed (no gap) to Medicare. The examination includes:
- Clarity of vision assessment for Distance and Near
- Internal and external eye health assessment
- Eye co-ordination, binocular vision, Depth perception and colour vision assessment
- Testing Report sent to parents
One in five Australian children suffers from an undetected vision problem, or requires ongoing assessment. Good vision is important for a child’s educational, behavioural and social development and to help them reach their full learning potential. Many children continue to experience undetected and unnecessary vision problems and often they assume that how they see is normal.
If you would like your child to undertake this great service at our school, please sign and return the attached consent form to the school office by 19th July.
Alternatively, the form can be submitted online via www.mobileyes.com.au/parent-guardian-consent
We would really like for our students to benefit from this service so parents please take the time to fill the form.
