It’s a time for badges, certificates. medals, awards, prizes and recognising effort and achievements for most schools. I love seeing the kids that shine at this time of year and their pleasure at being recognised for results through hard work and determination. I watched as they took the stage to rounds of applause from families and friends. I saw how proudly they stood and how special they were made to feel by all here at Blackwell and rightly so!
Congratulations to all our award winners - you deserve this acknowledgement!
To our new 2023 Leadership Team - you are most worthy of the title and all this role entails.
To Ryder and Imogen, School Captains, Congratulations - I am sure you will be great, supported by another great group with Beau, Lachlan, Elliott, Leilani, Selena and Talia.

I also saw the many students who sat and watched and would like to take this opportunity to say “WELL DONE!” and “THANK YOU!” to each and every student this year.
In so many ways our students have
- accepted challenges both big and small
- worked to the best of their ability
- reached out to form new friendship groups
- helped others, including staff
- solved problems when they could
- took responsibility for their actions-mostly
- demonstrated self discipline
- encouraged and supported team work
- turned up every day with a smile and a willingness to participate in the opportunities provided
- battled with anxiety and/or self doubt
- dealt with family issues including the loss of loved ones.
All these could not be accomplished without families and staff working together.
I couldn’t be prouder of each and every student in 2022.
So in a year where our theme was “gratitude” I am incredibly “grateful” for our amazing students, our wonderful community and our fantastic staff! Thank you all!
To Mrs Kenning, who leaves us to take up a new position at Warragamba PS I would like to say how blessed we were when you came to us from Clairgate all those years ago-before husband and children. You leave a large hole here but we wish a very happy future!
To Mr Cooke, returning to his school at Winmalee, we wish you all the best and hope you and Mrs Cooke remember Blackwell with fondness.
To Mrs Hemmings, who has moved to the Central Coast, we hope you enjoy a sea change and look forward to hearing from you when you find a new home and school. We wish you and your family all the very best.
To Mrs Reeves, a school closer to home has scored well.
To Mrs Weaver, a new position in a large private school beckons and your expertise will be well used.
Ms O’Connor has also accepted a position close by and we wish you all the best for your coming wedding.
To all our families who leave us after being part of this family we wish you all the very best as you go beyond our walls. I hope you take fond memories of the years spent here and we hope this new, exciting journey can be shared with those that remain here.
To all our families have a safe and wonderful break. Enjoy this festive season and all that being with families and friends bring us. May God grant us all a joyous season of peace and gratitude.

On behalf of the Stage 3 team, I would like to use this final newsletter to thank you for your support, both at school and the behind the scenes. We have enjoyed sharing this journey with you and your children. We look forward to seeing many of you again next year after a well-earned holiday break and to those whose families are leaving us for the final time – we would like to wish you all the very best as you start the next chapter in your children’s academic journey.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Stage 3 teachers for their hard work and dedication over the last 12 months. We have been a great team and it is with sadness to say three of our team are moving on or back to their old schools. Mrs Kenning has accepted a position at a school closer to home over at Warragamba PS, Mr Cooke is returning to his school up in the Blue Mountains at Wimalee and Mrs Reeves has accepted a 2-day a week position at her previous school over at Dural. We would like to say a big THANK YOU for teaching and caring for the students in Stage 3 this year and we wish you all the very best at your 2023 schools.
As our Year 6’s end their final year of primary school, they have been reflecting on their favourite memories from over the last few years. We are proud of the achievements of all our Year 6 students and know that we send them on to their new high schools having had some wonderful, memorable learning experiences and having made some strong friendships. Congratulations and a job well done to all. Together, you did it!
We hope you enjoy reading some of their fondest memories below.
Until next time
Take care and Stay Safe
