"How time flies when you are having fun!" Semester 2 has provided our students, staff and parents with opportunities to come together and celebrate public education. From our athletics carnival, excursions, incursions, Grandparent Day, Premiers Spelling competition and our Jeans for Genes day as well as our every day challenges of learning, Blackwell continues to provide a diverse and engaging curriculum.
Hard to believe but we are in the midst of planning for 2023. Kinder enrolments are still being finalised with 3 classes being formed at present. If you have a child due to start school in 2023, we ask that you please complete either an on-line enrolment form or collect a hard copy from our front office as soon as possible. At present we can only accept students that reside within our local catchment area. If you currently live outside this area and already have a child at Blackwell it does not give a sibling automatic access. Parents will be required to a complete a non-local enrolment form and await a decision made by a panel and authorised by our Director Mr Jason Miezis. Notification of the panel's decision will be sent to parents before our planned parent evening on Thursday, 3rd November at 6.30pm in the school hall.
Blackwell Buddies will re-commence next Wednesday, 31st August 9.15am - 10.45am in the kinder area. All pre-school children are welcome to attend. Please ensure they bring a hat, something to eat for crunch & sip and wear sensible footwear. Hope to see you soon.
Many thanks to our SRC who raised $705.00 on Jeans for Genes Day. Annabelle and her family send their thanks for the generous support.
Our new SRC members are all keen to get involved and have already sent me a list of suggestions & proposals. Great to see them being so proactive.
Book Week is celebrated this week with the theme "Dreaming with eyes open". It would be wonderful if families could spend some time reading or discussing favourite books and authors. Setting an example is the best way to encourage children to read!
Illnesses and Covid still continue to impact upon staff and students alike. We are doing our very best to keep class routines and programs operating but with 10 or more staff absent on some days, classes are sometimes split. We are grateful for your continued support in keeping unwell students at home and ask that you continue to notify us of the reason for your childs absence by responding to our SMS sent each day.
With any luck the warmer weather of Spring will help to banish these viruses affecting families at this time.
Please ensure you keep an eye on the Term 3 calendar as we have some busy weeks ahead.

Kinder 2023 Enrolments. Please ensure you have collected an enrolment form, complete and return as soon as possible so we have an accurate indication of our kinder numbers for 2023. All enrolments must have proof of address and live within our school boundaries. Enrolment guidelines are to be strictly enforced as we are over our entitlements and as such are capped for Blackwell. Siblings do NOT automatically guarantee an enrolment this year.
If you have a child due to start school who is turning 5 on or before 31st July 2023, or know of someone with a school aged child living in the area, please let them know that they can come and collect an enrolment form from our front office and when completed it can be returned to our office with:
- Original Birth certificate
- Current Immunisation certificate
- Proof of Address - 100 points ID (eg Utility Bill, Rental Agreement or Council Rates)
