NEWS FROM THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
With all students having returned to school, it is important to have your child arrive before 9.00am each day. Once the bell goes, your child needs to go to the Office to get a late slip. It is important that this happens.
Attendance is of high concern. Up to 50 students a day are absent. Please follow our absentee process. A letter/ notification to the school is required each day. Teachers will follow up and call if there is no contact about absences, after a 3 day period. The Home School Liaison Officer, Simon Clapham has been in contact with Blackwell and will be meeting on Thursday with me.
Leaving school early on a Friday afternoon, is not justified. School hours are between 9am – 3pm daily. School is running at normal routine and it is expected students attend each day, all day. All teachers here encourage the students and spend many hours in preparing engaging activities for their classroom. Staying home, because of sleeping in, or because your child does not want to come, is not an excuse for absence.
For the last two weeks and for the next 4 weeks, teachers are conducting assessments which are required by the Department, as well as in assessing progress within the classroom program. It is important that all students complete these activities. Staying away only delays assessment and the information gained from these assessments provides directions in helping to provide support and programs for each child.
OC Placement Test- Year 5 2022
A note should have been received by families involved. Online Testing will be done at Blackwell this year on Wednesday 17th November. (Week 7). All students are required to be at school by 9am. Application letter and information needs to come with your child. Testing will take place in the hall.
Speech Therapist
Welcome to Monika Goldberg who will be working at Blackwell on Tuesdays and some Wednesdays. Monika comes with a wealth of 22 years experience. She has established her own business “South West Speech Pathology” and Blackwell are working in partnership with her. Monika can be contacted through her mobile: 0418 450 721. For any enquiries and questions regarding consultation please give her a call. The school will also refer Monika, and Allied Health Services if your child needs support in expressive or receptive language.
Have a great few weeks until next time.

The Commonwealth Bank is unable to continue providing banking programs in schools. We understand that parents and students will have questions regarding the rewards programs and the status of their unused tokens.
We are speaking with the school banking representative and we are hoping to organise a date in which we can have students redeem their tokens for rewards.
We will keep you advised as soon as we have a date.
