Siblings who are out of area do NOT automatically guarantee an enrolment next year. Out of area siblings needed to complete an out of area form with their enrolment by Week 10. A panel is currently reviewing these applications and parents will be notified early next term.
Due to COVID restrictions there are no plans in place for Transition and Orientation plans and programs. However, the school will organise alternatives to assist families and our new kinders transition to Big School. We are in the process of organising a virtual tour of Blackwell - due to be completed mid Term 4.
If you have a child due to start school who is turning 5 on or before 31st July 2021, or know of someone with a school aged child living in the area, please let them know that they can come and collect an enrolment form from our front office and when completed it can be returned to our office with:
- Original Birth certificate
- Current Immunisation certificate
- Proof of Address - 100 points ID (eg Utility Bill, Rental Agreement or Council Rates)
Just a reminder that wherever possible appointments for students should be made out of school hours. Signing students in and out of their classes causes disruptions to teaching and learning time.
We say "Farewell" to Mrs Grima as she and her husband, James, embark on a wonderful new journey of Parenthood. We wish them and their new bundle all the very best and hope to see them here at Blackwell sometime next term. Mrs Adele Loscialpo will take over S1G for the remainder of the year
We welcome back Miss Bratusa who will be joining us 3 days per week next term. I am sure Alfie will cope! Grandparents give the best cuddles!
We also welcome our new canteen providers "Kids Pantry" who were the successful tenders this term. A copy of their new menu is included elsewhere in our newsletter.
We hope you all have a chance to relax and unwind over the next two weeks as we all know Term 4 just seems to fly!
Our PAW's lunch will be held this Thursday, 24th September at 1pm to acknowledge the hard work and exemplary efforts of these students. In fact, it has been a wonderful term for the majority of our students.
You may have noticed that our website has been slightly altered as the Education Department now manages all public school sites and we are no longer able to use a Third Party Provider.
A reminder that school starts back on Monday, 13th October as there is no staff development day to begin but rather to finish at the end of the term!
Our Term 4 calendar is also included. Please keep it handy as the term has quite a few events even with COVID restrictions still in place!
A new Student Support Unit will be established here to commence in 2021. We are excited to be able to offer a place for these young students at Blackwell!

A Note from the Deputy Principal
Everyone is saying how time flies! It does, however I can see many students and even teachers, who are very, very tired at the end of this term. You may not have realised this, but this is the first term this year that our students have completed a full 10 weeks at school! No wonder we’re all tired and exhausted. We have to get used to this time frame.
School Photos: Last Wednesday all students had a class, individual photo. Some students had a group photo and sibling photos. We were fortunate enough to get all of the photos done in one day.
This Tuesday, those students who were absent on photo day had their individual photo taken. All individual photos are used for records attached to the school.
When group photos are finalised, we will inform you to come and have a look at the proofs in the office.
If you wish to order these, they must be done online only. Photos will be distributed as soon as they arrive back at school. This should be within the first few weeks of Term 4.
Thank you to all our students who presented so well on photo day with all their correct uniform.
Gymnastics: Our term program has now finished. Students were assessed on their skills during these sessions. We are considering doing gymnastics again next year, especially if we can get the sporting grant again. Any feedback from your children is welcome. Send it to the office or myself.
Term 4: Some special events are happening.
“The Super Circus Science Show” will be in Week 4. This is an incursion for all classes and is a performance that is funded partially by the school pack. Science will be the theme on 6th November.
Russ the Story Bus is coming again!! Students bring a book and exchange it for another book while a storyteller comes on the day. There’s always too many books to choose from.
Kinder has Wannabees coming into the school later in the term.
Enjoy your holiday break – hopefully there will be enough down time for everyone.
Next term, let’s see all our students coming back enthusiastically, putting in lots of effort and motivated to do their best. See you all next term.
Judith Wilson
Deputy Principal
It is hard to imagine that another term is coming to a close. Although the end of term means we are three quarters of the way through the calendar year, it is almost as if, the last six months we have stood still.
The P&C contribution to the Blackwell community has been significantly different as a result this year, with little to nothing to report. We continue to have our monthly meeting although, they are a fast and furious version taking place on Zoom. The object of the P&C is to promote the interests of the school as the voice of the parents. If you have ever thought about attending or wondered what it is we talk about and if you can be a part of it, please join our next meeting via the Zoom link posted, not our FB page on Monday, 2nd November. There will be no October meeting as it falls during the school holidays.
The vacancy on the executive for a Treasurer has not changed however, it remains an important role and if you are interested in assuming the job, it would relieve another executive member from undertaking two voluntary roles.
On behalf of the P&C executives, we hope you and your families are adjusting to our new way of life and look forward to face to face meetings, again one day in the future.
Regards,
Cherie Pollard
2020 P&C Secretary on behalf of the P&C Executive
